Have you heard that Shawna Carol’s Goddess Chant is coming to Kauai? Since its premiere in 1998, Goddess Chant has been performed in New York City: in Rochester, NY, at the Omega Institute; in San Antonio, Texas; and in one of the oldest cathedrals in the US, Arlington St. Church in Boston. Goddess Chant received its West Coast Premiere in Seattle at the WOW Festival in February 2000 and its European Premiere at the Goddess Conference in Glastonbury England in 2003. Choirs from all over the United States have expressed interest in performing Goddess Chant.

Kauai’s own Shawna Carol has created a voice and experience of the Divine Feminine that feeds us like the nectar of the Mother of us all. This is Goddess Chant: a multi-disciplinary performance piece containing song, dance, spoken word and the dynamics of true ritual. Not a vehicle creating more separation and polarization, Goddess Chant energizes a part of us that knows the way “Home” and unites us within a cohesive whole. Through it, we are embraced by a love that has always been and will always be. For many, Goddess Chant is a healing, empowering and uplifting experience.

Shawna Carol is driven by a conviction that the reemergence of the Goddess is a reflection of the readiness of our society to restore the balance of power between men and women. So much of our time and money is spent on healing the ills of society. Domestic and global violence; birth trauma; the breakdown of family, community, our physical, mental and emotional health, as well as the woundedness of Nature; are all indications of a world out of balance. When we come home to ourselves, remember who we really are and attend to the interrelationship of all life, amazing things can happen.

This is why the Sacred Birthing Foundation’s Birthing a New Humanity Center is sponsoring Goddess Chant. Sacred Birthing exists because we believe that the consciousness of humanity is expanding exponentially; because the babies asking to be born are calling us toward gentle practices that allow them to be born in a manner that upholds the integrity of their divine consciousness; and because those of us already living on this planet are being called to “birth ourselves” into higher ways of being, loving and living. Birthing a new Humanity Center, the first educational arm of Sacred Birthing offers classes to prepare pre-conceptive and pregnant couples as well as birthing professionals towards ushering children into this world in a gentle, sacred manner so they may fully bring forth their gifts and fulfill their full potential from the first breath of life. Our Doula or birthing assistant classes prepare members of our community to support birthing couples. Other offerings at the center are Childbirth preparation classes, “Heal Your Own Birth” workshops, infant massage and parenting classes and so much more.
